Privacy Policy
This page explains what data iStrangr processes, why it is processed and what rights you have.
Article 1. Data Controller
The data controller for personal data collected through iStrangr is the Publisher of the Service, an individual operating the Service from Belgium.
For any question regarding this policy or to exercise your rights, you may contact the Publisher using the email address indicated in Article 12.
Article 2. Data Collected
iStrangr follows a data minimization approach. No user account is created and no advertising or tracking cookies are deployed.

| Connection timestamps | Technical debugging and aggregated statistics | Legitimate interest | Technical logs purged within 30 days unless needed longer |
2.2 Data not collected
- name, surname, username, email address or phone number;
- date of birth sent to the server;
- video or audio stream content;
- text message content, except the last 3 messages when a report is made;
- precise geolocation data;
- banking or payment data.
2.3 Local storage
The Service may use browser localStorage to remember technical preferences such as interface language. This information remains stored on your device and is not sent to the server. Where it is used solely for strictly technical and functional purposes, it is not used for advertising tracking and does not require a separate prior consent mechanism.
Article 3. Video and Audio Streams (webrtc)
Video and audio streams are established directly between users through WebRTC technology. iStrangr servers do not host the audiovisual content of exchanges.
Using WebRTC may partially expose your IP address to the other participant through ICE/STUN mechanisms. That IP address may constitute personal data under the GDPR. If you wish to reduce this exposure, you may consider using a VPN.
Article 4. Data Recipients
Collected data is not sold, rented or transferred to third parties for commercial purposes.
- Technical hosting and service providers, acting as processors where applicable;
- Judicial or administrative authorities, where a request is legally valid;
- Competent reporting bodies, in case of serious unlawful content, including Child Focus and Point de contact Belgique.
Article 5. Retention Period
iStrangr limits retention to what is strictly necessary.
- Standard maximum period: 6 months from the last relevant activity;
- Automatic deletion: an automated process regularly deletes expired data;
- Temporary bans: data linked to a 7-day ban may be removed once the measure expires;
- Long bans: retention may last up to 6 months.
Article 6. Data Security
The Publisher implements appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure or destruction.
- HTTPS/TLS encrypted communications;
- server-level security measures and restricted access;
- logging and abuse-prevention tools where necessary;
- secured administration interface and internal access control.
Despite these precautions, no system is entirely fail-safe. Where a personal data breach is likely to result in a high risk to your rights and freedoms, you will be informed in accordance with applicable law.
Article 7. Transfers Outside the European Union
Data is hosted and processed within the European Union or in countries recognized as providing an adequate level of protection, where applicable.
However, peer-to-peer communications mean that a participant located outside the European Union may technically perceive part of your IP address. This consequence is inherent to WebRTC operation.
Article 8. Your Rights
Under the GDPR, you notably have the following rights:
To exercise your rights, you may need to provide information allowing your data to be identified, including the relevant IP address where no named account is associated with the Service.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority: www.autoriteprotectiondonnees.be.
Article 9. Cookies and Trackers
iStrangr does not use advertising, profiling or non-essential analytics cookies.
The Service may use local storage or equivalent technical mechanisms to remember functional preferences, such as language. These mechanisms are strictly technical, are not used to track you for advertising purposes and, where limited to that function, do not require a separate prior consent mechanism.
External resources, such as fonts or CDN libraries, may cause technical data including your IP address to be transmitted to their respective providers.
Article 10. Minors
The Service is strictly prohibited to persons under 18 years of age. An age confirmation step is displayed when you click “Start”. The Publisher does not knowingly collect data relating to minors.
If you believe a minor has used the Service, please contact the Publisher so that a review can be carried out and the relevant data deleted where appropriate.
Article 11. Changes to This Policy
The Publisher may amend this policy at any time to reflect legal, regulatory, case law or technical developments.
Where a substantial change is made, visible notice may be displayed on the Service. The version published online is the version currently in force.
